I am curious about this challenge and when my new (reduced) semester starts in February, I will join in - I will also join in (albeit randomly) with [livejournal.com profile] egg_shell's Writing Prompts Project and see where it takes me.

  • Published this year - TBA 2016 has only just started.

  • Finish in a day -  Marco Polo: Travels in the Lands of Serpents and Pearls.

  • Meaning to Read - John Steinbeck: East of Eden.

  • Recommended by Bookseller - Usually a Booker Prize one, I will ask.

  • What you should have read at school - Laurie Lee: Cider With Rosie.

  • Chosen by son - TBA.

  • Published before I was born - TBA (but anything before 1967).

  • Banned at some point - well, I am kind of doing this with Ulysses/Lolita at the moment, but it will probably be Boris Pasternak's Dr Zhivago.

  • Owned but never read - Markus Zusak: The Book Thief.

  • Intimidates? - Plato: Republic (why/ I don't know).

  • One you have read at least once - I will reread Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, but I might attempt Crome Yellow too.

I have a few challenges ahead; for instance I have told P2 that I will learn chess and as a promise to myself, brush up on my Italian - wish Inspector Montalbano was back on :-(

***EDIT*** Oh joy of joys - Young Montalbano is on!!!!

That's exactly the way I see it, hence using this as a sticky post for a while. I am not hot on commitment and will over subscribe myself if I start this beforeFebruary. I will look forward to reading peoples' book choices and writing projects with interest :-)
