9) The scariest dream you have had?

I was being chased by a giant beetle, that was so big it, blocked out the sky. That and there was molten lava dropping on my house - Krakatoa-style.

I used to have recurring dreams about living back at my old address in the local town.  That wasn't so much a scary dream, more of a sense of depressing helplessness.  Since I have started my degree, these dreams have thankfully stopped.

The thing with dreams is that it is very difficult to adequately capture the terror you feel in the dream when describing them. Is the beetle a recent dream?

I have places I return to often in dreams, or when I'm not watching my brain, a little street in the town I went to university in, or the bus station there and my Grandmother's house in London. No idea why some stick and other places never re-appear.

Dreams fascinate me. You are right re the terror, plus sometimes the fury and the anguish. Thankfully, the beetle/molten lava dream was back in my teens and twenties.

I think that the house in St Ives dream is that I felt very cut off from others. My friends all had gone to uni and/or lived hundreds of miles away. My family were a 20 minute bus ride away, but I was solo with a six year old and very, very broke. The dream is born out of a lot of young adult frustration and of missed opportunities. Saying that, I did have some quality time to write, draw, listen to music etc.

I have dreams that are parts of buildings superimposed over others in dreams. I also get drawn to a pub across the water that I haven't been into for years. I can see the symbolism of it all :-)

There is symbolism there, yes. Sometimes it's just nonsense though, isn't it? I wish you good dreams.
