I have just looked up what 'bait and switch' means. I used to think of it like a 'Fake Duck' (and yes I am aware that I have to be very careful how I say that LOL).
A hunter sits in his boat with a little 'duck whistle' (no, that is not a euphemism), making interesting mallard noises. Female duck gets interested in the macho duck noises, comes out of the reeds - only to be bludgeoned, bagged and later eaten. 'Fake Duck' Hunter resumes his course - the great ducker of all time being Elmer Fudd.
