Partial Eclipse 2015

Partial Eclipse - Plymouth March 2015 (photo Credit - STEPPINGSTONES )
Last full eclipse visible in the UK was August 11th 1999 - P1 was 14, P2 was just 5!!! Back then, it was very cloudy and became very cold and a bit dark.  We saw very little of it.  Today's eclipse was only 86% and a bit misty, but I saw quite a bit more than last time.  Interesting - even at 86%, the sun was still fully shining and did NOT go into twilight.  Just a bit glass and very shadowy.  Almost could be the precursor to an apocolyse.

Finley Quaye's Supreme I Preme was playing on MTV at the time - so, here it is again :-)

Lovely photo of the eclipse. I remember the 1999 one, I was allowed out of work to watch it, today I had customers, so I missed it. Glad you saw it though.

It was interesting to see that even with 86% coverage, it was only a little darker. Lots of glassy sunshine still - I've seen darker Januarys Lol :-)

OOh wasn't the cloud helpful!!!! I managed to see most of it! The eclipse not the cloud, teehee so that was really fun. The last time I saw a whole eclipse was in Africa half way up Mt. Kilimanjaro... and watched the darkness sweep across the plains below me... lordy!

THEN IT RAINED ALL DULL COLD GREY MISERABLE DAY! Here I mean, Kili was hot and sunny and very HILLY!

Our last eclipse was covered in grey cloud and largely a non event. This time was a bit more interesting, because of the strange quality of light and contrasting shadows.

Wow - it must have been an amazing sight on top of the Mount. My view was of a foggy disc over our local pupub, viewed from my front door :-)
