I tend to do neither. I read a book cover-to-cover at one sitting, and I can generally remember, down to what side of page and whether top or bottom, where the bits i need to recall are.

I do not know how many of my childhood favorites were destroyed by the self-righteous, but I tell you three times, people who wedge apart the spine of a book are barbarians.
