St Mary's: The Isles of Scilly

Precious little sleep last night - warned my sister to take an extra batch of clean clothes in case niece gets a little travel sick. Just as well - journey was bumpy and my poor niece puked extensively over herself and her mother.  Had a lovely time scrambling up The Garrison and over Porthcressa Beach.  Weather was fab too :-)

The sea is so blue! What a wonderful place to holiday. It looks very sheltered without waves - was it just calm that day or is it like that usually?

The Isles of Scilly are a group of islands a few miles away from Cornwall. It is further south west than the rest of the British Isles. Because of its location, it can be much warmer and therefore sustain many tropical plants in the wild. St Mary's is stunningly and most times I have been there, it has been calm - except one weekend when it was stormy out to sea and the waves on the quay were very choppy.

There are other islands too, the next biggest is Tresco which has a famous tropical garden and my favourite is St Agnes, which is a small island that has only the smallest amount of shops and the only traffic is bicycle and the odd golf cart.

It is indeed beautiful and well worth the visit :-)
