The Passing of the Piglet - Goodbye Peugeot 205

I know it is stupid to get sentimental about cars, but in scrapping my beloved 205 (Piglet) yesterday, it feels almost the same as if I have taken ol' Sheppy into the backyard and brought out the twelve bore. I have the unenviable task of finding a runaround (VW Polo, Seat or whatever) before resorting to car sharing with Hubby, who will be laid up for a few weeks and will be cranky enough as it is, lest I breathe on the steering wheel of his pride and joy.

I mentioned about the emotional attachment/car thing to my mechanic and I think it's because I first had the car when my folks were still alive. He replied with a resounding "Yes" and I KNOW he could identify with me on some level as he has an attachment to one of his cars for similar reasons.

We can't turn back time, but there are certain things we wish we could keep with us...

RIP Piglet :'(((

Oh Piglet. RIP and may you drive with joy and non-aching axles on heavenly-smooth roads.

I know how you feel. My 'bereavements' have been so many. But when my Weewee dies... oh but that will be long after I have shed my mortal coils - I trust!

Strange that Peugeots are always named.... Fred's was called Pudget.

Dearest Piglet - so many teenagers crammed into it, umpteen visits to Xmas lights and holiday attractions. Kid's stickers and bits still adorned from over a decade ago. Time to let go.

P2: I just texted Trev (mate) to say that the Pig was no more.

Me: What did he say?

P2: He texted back "Noooooooooooooo!!!"

Me: I wanted to give it a Viking funeral...

P2: (pats me awkwardly) I know - to you it was a member of the family, like a four-wheeled cat.

A Viking Funeral... what a lovely lovely way to go. That WOULD have been nice! Honest! I'd have been so happy.... gosh. (But I spose the Poliss wouldn't have been so pleased.)

A four-wheeled CAT!!!! oh P2... you are a darling.

I hate it too when our old cars die. We keep them to the end - never selling them. It just wouldn't be right to sell one after it became a member of the family. Though you can't bury a car in the backyard like a pet.

It would take some digging, but yes!
