Je Suis Paris

The world is shocked about the Paris attacks. In my own corner of the world, my English group returned from Paris just two days previously, the same trip that I was scheduled to be on, but had been too unwell to go. I have text a friend's daughter who is spending her third year French/English BA out there. I breathed a sigh of relief when I got her text message back, confirming that she was indeed ok, as she is staying outside Paris.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the people of Paris, may we continue to strive for peace.

Despite all the precautions (and France is really working HARD on those) there are these secret crazies who just - well, at least they rid the world of themselves as well! What drives these nutters???

Trouble is, I fear we shall never rid ourselves of religious crazies (of all religions too!) What IS it with these .. these... 'things'?

You are right when you say 'all religions' - they could take any book and see it as their divine right to kill another. This spans the whole of humanity via creeds, colour, culture or politics. Hammering people so they are shaped to fit their fundamentalist ideaology.

I pray for peace, in the knowledge that it is not in a small proportion of people's mentality to actually live peacefully.

Such hate is hard to fathom.
What will this world become in the future, I wonder and worry for the unborn child my niece is carrying.

I know how you feel, Fee - I think of my niece and friends' children and worry the same.
