Schalken the Painter

Schalken the Painter is shaping up to be another tale in the Bluebeard genre. Vanderhausen looms as a prospective husband and his demeanor suggests that of a cut-throat vagabond, masquerading as a wealthy Lord of some standing.  There is so much I would love to say about this book, but I think it will have to go into my mini dissertation, or I would've wasted all of my research via a diary entry.

Anyway, I am lucky that Gutenberg has come up trumps and the online book can be read here.

Mwahaha :-E

It is interesting, if a little eerie :-)

Synchronicity time: I was just thinking of this. today. When I saw the TV adaptation, years ago, I was home alone late at night, and it completely creeped me out.

I can imagine - I haven't seen the TV adaptation but the pic and the book are rather unnerving.
