Burton - The Longest, Drawn-Out Project Ever!!!

tim-burton2

I feel like I have been compiling and researching this forever - this has only been protracted because of unforseen circumstances.  I have written about 1,400 words or so with a good 800 to follow and I am about a thrid the way through the PP.  it kinda all went to the wall when Hubby was diagnosed then had his stint in the hospital.

Today, I want to discuss his artistic style first seen in The Stalk of the Celery Monster and his artwork in The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy/Stain Boy.

Well, I scratched that idea for now and rearranged a lot of stuff.  Will be looking at Sleepy Hollow and Alice in Wonderland again, also considering Sweeney Todd - but not too fond of the latter.  I wasn't entirely convinced of the chemistry between Depp and Bonham Carter to be honest.

There's something a bit - 'sidesways' in Tim Burton's makeup. Something's sorta slipped...... he leaves me always feeling unsettled. Even Alice; and Sweeney - ugh.

He is a bit too quirky for some - I really like a lot of his stuff, but I didn't like his versions of 'Sweeney Todd' or 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.' Still, he is a very easy director to analyse and that's useful to me :-)

I Like some of what he does, but there's always that... oddness, as if he's looking through a broken prism.

And the Chocolate Factory I watch -- and watch -- and end up NOT liking. At all.

Yes, I should think he is easier than a load of directors... he does give you something to BITE into!...

Oh I DID enjoy Mark Steel.... bless.

I know what you mean re Burton - I preferred the Gene Wilder version, mostly because I grew up with it :-)

Funnily enough that Wilder one was on on the Children's Channel on my tv the other early evening... and I SOOOOO enjoyed it. They had shown the Burton one a few days earlier on the other Adolescent channel. I LOVED the dormouse in the wilder one.... He was a true dormouse and fitted under a cup perfectly! Oh yes... Oh yes, 'I'm late, I'm late...'(for making my lunch!)
