Major Dissertation: Chapter 1 - Day 5

Well, it hasn't been TOO bad today, however a lot of my stuff has had to be shifted from the first chapter to the preface.  In theory, it should have made the introduction more concise and it has, but consequently, it's made the 3,000 or so other words look like it is still in note form.  It's like untangling a ball of wool, only to find that you may have unravelled your knitting. Curses.
