24. What’s a strange occurrence you’ve experienced but have never (or rarely) shared with anyone?

That although I am not scared of birds, I have my fair share of bird problems.  I was concussed by a seagull once - it had a pasty over it's face at the time and couldn't see where it was going.  I liken it to being hit by a roast chicken (or what I would imagine it would feel like).  Then there was the time I was attacked by some nectar birds in our local bird sanctuary.  They were hungry and I was the first one in the feeding pen, with a measure of nectar.  They all dived at me so fast, I put my hands up to shield myself and the force of the birds hitting my hands, knocked the nectar over my head.  So you can imagine what happened next - my head was stripped of nectar as I was trying to fend them off.  P2 and my mother did what any family member would do and just stood there and laughed at me.

Still bimbling on with the vampire stories. Polidori's one seems straightforward enough as so does le Fanu's Carmilla - but Dracula is one that I am not sure where I am going to go with this, exactly.  However, something drew my attention - a female vampire written by a credible female writer - Angela Carter!!  Her of the Bluebeard/Bloody Chamber which I wrote for my mini dissertation!!!  Most excellent - maybe I can get myself out of a literary hole with her help? Her story is called The Lady in the House of Love and it is founded on her radio play Vampirella.

This is surely a sign? My previous lecturer gave me Nights at the Circus by Angela Carter back in June, though I wasn't going to use it as my major diss piece.  Interesting, n'es pa?
