This is a shaky shot of a Hummingbird Hawk Moth.  They are not unusual in Cornwall, but because of the warmer weather, it has stayed on longer.

oh THANK you for that. We've had these in our garden for all the time I was in TOH...but now I've had to move I haven't seen one until NOW... they are gorgeous and it was always something so GOOD about the day when he came and ate from our aubretia on the wall just outside the back door.. it was even in a mild February he came. (or they came... had lots.. one at each end of the garden and three round the house...in their own territories. LOTS of stuff in Careo.. masses of flowers for them and Butterfly trees)

And such lovely woolly bums. and SO FAST!!!!!!!! I'm amazed he stayed around long enough for you to get so much of him.
