11) The last thing you ate was...

Chestnuts....elderly chestnuts at that. Dried and not at all nice to eat when you have a stuffy nose and throat. Time to get some new ones, me thinks.

In our local supermarket, the chestnuts seem to feel like they were picked over 6 weeks ago. The recede into the shell, then turn furry and grey on the inside. Ick!

I wish there was a good way of buying prepared chestnuts, I enjoy roasting them, but alway spurn myself getting them out of the shells! Picked up some when I was in St Mawgan-In -Pydar churchyard a few weeks ago, but they were almost empty inside :-(

I am going to look round some of our local farm shops and see if there are some plump, fresh ones. I usually peel mine wearing gloves and using a penknife. They aren't the most yeilding of nuts to get into.

Chestnuts in our local supermarkets are horrible, clearly picked too early and have gone stale quickly.

And nobody likes a shriveled nut...
