I had many CDs, but with building renovations and other stuff, they either got scuffed or lost etc. I have albums and songs on my iPod that run into hundreds though. Plus, there are so many places on here that you can source music from, the list can be endless.
LOL I couldn't do without music in my life - I would go spare :-)
And yeah, the books are in their hundreds now, spread around the house. I do go on an OXFAM culling spree periodically, but there is a friend of mine who sells second hand books in her shop. I wander down with a batch, then inevitably wander back with a 'new-to-me' batch :-)
I never had many to start off with (maybe 50?). Hamfisted builders and decorators didn't help and living on a building site for a while. Then I opened an iTunes account, an iPod and a docking station - have many tracks now. Plus, places like YouTube, Last FM and Groove Shark are great sources to find good music - as so is Jazz FM here in the UK :-)
I am partly deaf in my left ear-so an iPod is out-I love music-music has always been playing in the background of my life-I also love silence-in some ways my love for music goes back to growing up in a Pop Culture-I use to listen to non-commercial radio but found it is more enjoyable to listen to CD's-listen to my favorite music-now if we were poor CD's would be rare because of the lack of money-sometimes I wonder if my spending habits are out of control-how many metal CD's do I need? Music is always being produced along with books in our culture of consumerism. When is enough enough? Maybe I am sick and need to give more to those who have nothing? peace
I tend to find free music from the net, listen to it a lot, then buy the track if I still like it after repeated playings. Music is clearly necessary in your life - I suppose it is about striking a balance between being overrun with possessions and having stuff that you really need. I have a LOT of books - some of them I will have to hang on to for the time being, but periodically I recycle them at the local charity shop.
But don't rob yourself of the enjoyment of what you have. Music is important to us mere humans, because it can sometimes express what mere words can not convey adequately :-)
