I came in to listen to a lecture on scriptwriting today and later sat in on a different lecture - FdA English Year 1s, who appear to be a LOT more switched on than our class ever was. Also, my former lecturer from Access was lecturing, so it was nice to see her again. She was very helpful too, as it was reiterating Psychoanalytical Theory - especially Freud's essay on 'The Uncanny.' She used a disturbing stopfilm animation called 'The Sandman' to underline the fears of things sensed rather than things rationalised.
Alas, the Youtube member who has the film has disabled the embedding code, so I have supplied the link to the film either by tapping on the picture above, or this LINK
Oh and good luck sleeping tonight mwahahahaha!

Date: 2015-04-18 09:08 am (UTC)From:Just read the Freud Uncanny Essay and then woofled through Wikipedia's stuff. But they have uncanny listed with all sorts of weird sub-sub-conscious feelings.(castration? from what?) I've found as an adult now, that I don't have 'bogey' fears.. it's just RL stuff I have to logically sort through. Even nightmares don't come with the terrors they used to and I've not had one of those for ... oooh yonks. YONKS!
My goodness, your degree work is really making you tear everything apart! Not sure I'd enjoy my books after learning to do that. I've a childish mind when it comes to reading... me picturing mind takes over and unreels a film for me!
Still I am fascinated following your progress... I really AM. Couldn't do it meself but am so eager to see you get to the Finals and walk it!!! I'm sure you're going to... XXXXXXXX
