WHAT A MAGNIFICENT PARADE!!!! My goodness. it looks like the whole of Cornwall participated and the rest of the UK came to watch.

How bloody SPLENDID.... all those creatures (the dragons I love natch! I bet the dragon's head man was knackered after all that... and his dragon chomped!!) and the Peacock with cds twinkling in his tail!!! Oh I can't get over it all. the kids being part of it - so serious too!!!

And is the greeny kilt and yellow boutons on the boots the Cornish Tartan? and Did I see a Breton Flag.... oh gosh, I watched that about three times! can't believe there is so much 'get together' and all that hard work making.. and being part of.... bloody brilliant. BRILLIANT.

Thank you so much for this. It is amazing and super and wonderful.

Yes - Cornwall and Brittany are very closely linked and Penzance is linked with Concarneau.

The carnival figures are made from willow sticks (or 'withees' as they are called) and baker's sheet with PVA. One year, I made an Easter Island Head that was 6 ft tall, but didn't have time to finish it.

One year, the theme was ghosts etc and there were 15 foot skeletons wafting in the breeze. A month later, I was travelling through Pendeen at night and some of the scary float was outside a pub - bit eerie in the dark, let me tell you!

Golowan Festival was revived 25 years ago and I have been to most of them. I have also been involved with the running of the festival (banner making, choir, road duty), but I haven't done that it a fair while. It is a truly fantastic time.

Yeah - withies I know... they're used a lot as guide posts in dodgy sands, and as markers here where, when the tide goes out, all you have is a little wiggly stream to get your boat up.

Its the imagination to even MAKE them one has to congratulate. Such marvellous people. I am so sincerely impressed and would have LOVED to have been there. I just love these events where people all become so HUMAN and what they should be!

Makes me very very happy.
