As it has been pointed out to me, cats don't seem to understand the concept of shame.It is down to their cat-slaves (aka humans) to do that for them.

Like cats can be shamed. They just don't care. Dogs should take lessons from them.

They can show embarrassment though - usually when they attempt to jump up on things and miss. They then turn it into a sudden need to clean themselves and pretend that it didn't happen. Neat recovery.
