I am conflicted and cannot give a clear answer yet. The author is so much a mystery. I think Harper Lee wrote it but I do not understand how she forgot it existed after her fame with her other book unless she never intended the publication. Some of the prose is beautiful and I think she captures the south in that era, but.....I am still conflicted.

I think she wrote it, but her sister (who proofread and guided her sister in such matters) had locked it away for some reason. The details of the missing/found manuscript have been a bit hazy.
