I have had a diagnosis as to my health problems.  For those who aren't interested about my 'inner workings' - here's a metaphorical GIF for you :-D

The procedure was * ahem * interesting. Moviprep is like drinking Flash floor cleaner and I had both endoscopy and colonoscopy done (not at the same time - so, no channel tunnel jokes purlease).  Lest said about the actual procedure the better, except there are more pleasant ways to spend an afternoon.

I have been confirmed as the following: primary - IBS with lactose intolerance, diverticulosis in several areas; secondary - hiatus hernia (already knew that 25 years ago - barium meal ugh!) oesophigitis and gastritis. So relief that there aren't any other probs like coelitis, Crohn's or nobbly tumours etc.  They are sending biopsies off for a better reading, but it appears that the digestive tract is inflammed and I am producing too much bile.

Need a total overhaul of my diet (no surprise there - several tonnage has to be lost), but also medication such as Proton Pump Inhibitors (omeprazole or similar) and I can't take aspirin or neurofen anymore - not that I did much anyway.

At least I can breathe out - I will get a list of recommendations etc., pending any other results :-D

Welllll.... erm. Well. yerss. Actually, that is a LOT better than it could have been isn't it! That IS good. Don't like all this 'itis' stuff, but as it seems not to be chronic itis it sounds like if you can get rid of the lactose intolerance, things might calm down. Oesophigitis is not pleasant at all. The diverticulosis happens, the older you get the more little pockets one develops. BUT I am getting more and more relieved on re-reading this. NOTHING eeeevol

Bile. Yes. It'll be stop eating so much butter/margarine and factory pastries. OH DEAR! They make my bile duct cringe!

How do you know what drinking Flash Floor CLeaner is like, is it one of your normal tipples???? eeeeuuuwww. You dafty XXXXXX

ANd the other actions... um. def-ee-night-leee UM!!!

Hugs, but some qualified relief this end, don't know how much there is at any of your 'ends'? *g* XXXXXX

Well, it means that my 'Irritable Bowel' has caught up with my Irritable Persona'. LOL - takes a medical procedure to verify that I am an acidic old bag :-DDD

One thing I'd think twice about if I had it to do over is taking a PPI. I've been taking nexium for a very long time and it did help with easing my heartburn, but the latest research shows that it has a lot of nasty side effects such as heart palpitations and stealing the calcium from your bones. I have tried to stop taking it multiple times and managed to get my dosage down to 20 MG from 40, but when I go off completely the rebound acid production hurts like hell. I don't like meds that you can't stop taking. Diet alone might be enough to fix you up. I make and drink a lot of bone broth which helps the IBS. No matter what I'm glad the tests showed nothing too horrible and wish you a healthy tummy.

Thanks for the info, Fae (if I may call you that as a shortened form). I will have a chat with the dr once all the test results are back - I don't like permanent meds either, so I will have to do a bit of research :-)

I'm glad it's done and hope there are some solutions or things that help for you.

Yeah- just need other anomalies ironed out, then I can act on information given :-)

I take omeprazole. I dread to think if I had to live without it - life would be miserable.

Well, I have had to eat very bland food now and if omaprazole will help with this problem, then I will be pleased :-)
