The Tail Of MISTER Bingley
May. 10th, 2017 08:02 pm
Bingley had been thinning out around the base of her tail and assumed that it was mange or fleas or whatever, so we gave our vet a call. Now Bingley had been a timeshare cat for a fair while, but because she had moved in with us on a more permanent basis, we assumed that Bing was a stray. She needed medical attention. Imagine the horror that we turn up there hoping to get her treated - only to find that she is tagged and is noticed as missing. I was absolutely shocked and heartbroken when the vet called Bingley's actual folks, who we have found lives down the road from us. And that slinky Bingley with the girly soft fur and cuddly demeanor was actually MISTER Bingley - very definitely a 'blue toothbrush' cat.. Anyway, we walked away from the vet minus Bingley, I was absolute inconsolable.
Bingley's folks gave us a knock and returned him to us, saying he is happier here and gave him over. I was blubbing and doing my best 'puss, puss' and we have their number etc. It's all worked out in the end and Bingley is now crashed out in the other room. It has taken a dent out of my research for today and I think I will do the Roger Allam skit in The Thick of It. I am early on the train tomorrow for my last ever lecture and am in lock in all weekend so I can finish the bloody thing.
Juvenile humour at it's best.
Major Dissertation Ch 3 Notes - It Begins
Feb. 18th, 2017 03:08 pmSpring feels like it is here, with the first semi warm and sunny days since September last. I have to fight the urge to go out and catch some shots of the first shoots of spring. Chapter 2 isn't exactly in the bag - in fact, I posted it with great trepidation as a cry for help (messy beyond belief and I couldn't get past rearranging the same old crap). Now I have some breathing space, it is time to go through and write up crucial notes for Chapter 3, rather than sit around letting the grass grow under my feet.
Some good and not so good news about my former fellow students. On the NSGN front - a student who was an FdA from my old college dropped out re discrepancies about her work. A genuine mistake on her part and it got to such a position, she dropped out in December. I am glad to hear she is doing well and in a nice job, but ultimately very disappointing. Her running partner also is struggling, as she took English with Politics and is finding it a strain, not to mention quite alienating. On a brighter note, another fellow Truro colleague, who graduated last September has passed his teacher training literary test and the all important evil maths test - closer steps in becoming a teacher. I am very pleased for him, think he will do a good job, too.
Anyway it's tappitty tap time :-)

I have written out 2,633 words today and barely made a dent (just over 10% of it) but it should settle soon, because it is about fleshing key characters out and that will be narrowing down shortly. I have to concentrate on the relationships with the protagonists' key mother figures and add the others in as incidentals, as and when. Dead tired now and I have Prodigal 1 and granddaughter over tomorrow, so I won't be seeing this til about 2 in the afternoon.
A Little Bit Closer
Feb. 1st, 2017 08:25 pmAfter being awake for 36 hours, I slept for 14 hours and have done very little except go to the gym today. Tomorrow I start afresh at the desk. My first satire sesh was excellent - run by the very excellent Dr Min Wild and we discussed the language and nature of satire and of course, Trump's presidency turned up. This will run and run.
